Spotlight: Junior Board
Coming together. Giving back.

The Catholic Charities Junior Board is an organization of dynamic young adults (21 and up) committed to sharing their talents, energy and resources with Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph.  There’s also many opportunities for professional networking.

 “I have been amazed by the number of young professionals within the KC metro area that have already donated their time, input, and expertise in getting the Junior Board up and running,” said Amy Nigro, vice president of the Board. 

Through volunteer service, social networking, stewardship and spiritual enrichment, the Junior Board is involved in a variety of activities such as occasional Happy Hours, family-friendly get-togethers, service projects, Mass and fellowship.  “Coming together.  Giving back,” is the motto inspiring the members.

Having been raised in a spirit of service to others, Frank Allen, a recent MBA graduate of Rockhurst University and Service Chair of the board, said, “There is such enthusiasm and willingness to give back to our community, that we know the Junior Board will be a rewarding experience for anyone involved.”

Junior Board President Josh McCaig, an attorney at Polsinelli Shughart PC, is excited to share his leadership and support in hopes that the Junior Board members will find personal and spiritual satisfaction through their involvement. 

"The mission of the Junior Board mirrors that of Catholic Charities.  We see this as an important way for young people to come together with a common goal of giving back to the community, especially to those who are struggling in these difficult times,” said Josh.
The Junior Board hosted more than 50 guests recently at a beach-inspired gathering at The Well in south Kansas City last month, donating summer fun items like swimsuits, floaties, and sunscreen for Catholic Charities’ Foster Care program.
