Foster Child AdoptionCatholic Charities provides Foster Care Case Management and Permanency Planning (adoption) for children removed from their home due to abuse or neglect by the parent or caregiver. Case managers coordinate and oversee many aspects of the foster child's life to ensure the physical, educational and medical needs of the child are met. For those desiring to care for a child in protective custody or with special needs, Catholic Charities is a leading provider of foster parent training. This extensive, program includes a series of assessments and comprehensive background check required to become a state-approved foster care parent. Case managers visit foster homes frequently to help parents or primary caregivers develop the proper resources and coping skills for the family. In addition, they attend court hearings, school meetings, physician and counseling appointments. Catholic Charities' goal is to strengthen and reunite families. If, however, this is not possible, Catholic Charities works to find a loving relative or nurturing family to adopt the child.
