Help a ChildCatholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph is committed to the care and safety of children in our communities. In response to environmental trends impacting children and families, Catholic Charities designs services and programs to best meet the needs of changing family dynamics. A staff dedicated to the healthy development and protection of children relies on community involvement to help make a difference in the lives of children. Here's how you can help: Youth Mentoring
Youth mentors encourage one-to-one support, counsel, friendship and constructive example to at-risk and challenged youth. Sharing knowledge, wisdom and a sense of humor has immeasurable rewards for everyone involved! Adults at least 19 years of age and willing to share about two hours each week with a child (5-18 years of age) are encouraged to learn more about this worthwhile commitment.
Foster Parenting
Families interested in parenting a child in foster care are invited to learn more about foster parenting. Individuals in this role are needed to provide care, guidance and important developmental opportunities to children who have been removed from their custodial home due to abuse or neglect. A series of assessments and a comprehensive background check are required to become a state approved foster care parent.
