Concepts for Effective Services (CESIII)Recognizing that Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph has long been a leader in the service business model of non-profit management, the agency was awarded a grant by the Administration of Children and Families to administer the third round of Concepts for Effective Services (CES). Like CES II, this initiative will enable Catholic Charities to draw upon their organizational successes and best practices to help other non-profits in Northwestern Missouri strengthen their organizational missions and build their capacity to serve others. Concepts for Effective Services III will provide training and mentoring to nonprofits to increase effectiveness, build capacity, encourage collaboration and sustain programs over the long term. The curriculum includes developing a diversified funding base, board development, sustained mentoring and technical assistance support. Participants also work one on one with a business mentor and an outreach coordinator. A hallmark of Concepts for Effective Services III is the inclusion of an internship program for young people to foster the next generation of nonprofit leadership. Specifically, CES III will provide expansive training for forty area nonprofit organizations that focus on helping low-income individuals secure and retain employment, earn higher wages, obtain better-quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and federal benefits and tax credits. Awardees are eligible to receive sub-grants to enhance organizational infrastructure and capacity-building programs.
