Volunteer Project Ideas for Groups or StudentsThank you for your volunteer interest in a group project. The idea list below is just that - ideas to help make your volunteer experience meaningful and enjoyable for all. The projects are adaptable to groups of all ages and may be used by corporate groups, school or religious education classes, scouts, fraternities and sororities, or community service organizations. Activity DayPlan arts and crafts, parties, games or other fun activities for agency clients. Baby ShowersCollect new baby items such as blankets, sleepers, strollers. Disposable diapers, baby wipes and maternity clothes also are needed. Birthday PartyAsk guests to your celebration to honor you with a gift that will help someone served by Catholic Charities. We can provide gift ideas of much-needed items. BooksCollect appropriate books for youth programs to help children and teens build their own "libraries". Care PackagesGather household items and assemble Care Packages for new residents in Catholic Charities homeless prevention program. Christmas GivingCollect new toys, books and gifts for children served by Catholic Charities. Day of PamperingOrganize a massage therapist, manicurist, hair stylist, and/or cosmetic specialist to provide free services to women or men served by Catholic Charities. Flower PowerMake tissue paper flowers, which can be given to participants at Catholic Charities' senior sites. Friendly VisitorParticipate in activities such as card games and bingo, and visit with older persons at Catholic Charities senior centers. Pajama PartyCollect new underwear and pajamas for children, teens and adults. Personal Care Supply DriveCollect toilet paper, shampoo, soap, disposable razors and other personal care items that are not purchasable with food stamps. Regular sizes can be used by families; individual sizes (e.g., unopened shampoo from hotel stays) are helpful to homeless persons. Phone HomeCollect pre-paid phone cards for children in foster care to call their parents. Project Shining Star - October through mid-DecemberThis gift-giving program invites groups, families or individuals to "adopt" a family for Christmas. A "wish list" is provided with gift-buying ideas in late fall. Gifts are delivered by case managers to clients in need beginning the first of December. School SuppliesCollect school supplies for children. Many supplies run out or break by mid-year. Share to SpendCollect monetary donations to share with children in residential care homes. This will give the youth spending money for scheduled outings such as to the mall. "Million Dollar Smile" DriveCollect toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss for children and families. Sock and Mitten HopHost a dance with the admission price being a pair of socks, slippers, gloves or mittens. Sweet ShoppeBake cookies and other treats to sell after church or at work or school. Proceeds will be donated to a particular service area.
